On 24 March 2012 the Stamp Duty Land Tax (SDLT) relief presently available to First Time Buyers is due to end.

Since the 24 March 2010 first time buyers have enjoyed relief from SDLT for purchases of residential property up to a value of £250,000, where the buyer or all of the buyers have never previously owned property or land in the UK or anywhere else in the world and intend to occupy the property as their only or main home. However, this relief will not be available where the effective date (the date of completion) is after the 24 March 2012.

If you have any queries about SDLT please contact property solicitor Louise Langabeer at Slee Blackwell Solicitors on telephone 01271 372128 or by email [email protected]
